Arrival & Start of the quiz show – The excitement begins

The moment they enter the room, there’s a real quiz show atmosphere. The opening slide is displayed on the screen, music plays in the background to create a light-hearted mood, and tablets are laid out on the team tables. The participants sense straight away: today isn’t about listening, but about getting involved.

The BITOU facilitator welcomes the group in the style of a quiz show and explains how the session will proceed. Depending on prior arrangements, the teams may have been assigned in advance or are drawn at random on the spot. The teams then choose a name, log in via their tablet and prepare for the first round.

Test question & first rounds of the quiz – Let’s get started together

Before things really get going, the quiz show begins with a test question. This is deliberately designed to be easy, humorous or surprising, so that everyone can familiarise themselves with the game mechanics. The question appears on the presentation screen; teams select their answer on the tablet and see straight away which answer was correct.

The actual quiz round then begins. The first questions are designed to be accessible to participants – often featuring fun facts or trivial knowledge that quickly sparks conversation. After each question, the platform displays not only the correct answer but also how many teams got it right. The leaderboard updates constantly, ensuring that excitement and competitiveness are palpable right from the start.

Quiz Battles & Active Challenges – When the team scores points together

As the game progresses, the topics change. Sometimes it’s about curiosities from law books, sometimes about wildlife, sport, food, geography or little bits of trivia that you certainly don’t need every day – but which you’ll be keen to pass on afterwards. It is precisely this mix that makes the format so lively: almost everyone in the team has a moment at some point when they can contribute something.

In addition, two or three active challenges can be incorporated. This means participants don’t just sit at the table, but have to stand up briefly, work together to complete a task and earn bonus points. This creates movement, dynamism and an extra element of surprise as the game progresses. Meanwhile, the host regularly picks out teams from the leaderboard and brings little chats, anecdotes or interesting facts into the discussion.

Final & Prize-giving Ceremony – Who will be crowned quiz champion?

As the event draws to a close, the tension mounts. The scores can shift once again due to new topic areas or bonus points, so it often isn’t clear which team is actually in the lead until just before the end. After the final question, the final leaderboard is deliberately not displayed straight away – the presenters are setting the scene for the big moment.

Then the top teams are announced: third place, second place and, finally, the winning team. The cheering reaches a fever pitch, the winners are celebrated and, if they wish, presented with a prize. BITOU usually awards the winning team a large bottle of sparkling wine as the prize. And so the team quiz show ends on a high note, providing plenty of talking points for a long time to come.

Online team quiz show – quiz fun even for teams in different locations

The team quiz show can also be held online. All participants join a shared online meeting, for example via Microsoft Teams or another platform that supports screen sharing. The BITOU presenters split the quiz show screen, guide the participants through the questions and help to create a lively atmosphere, even virtually.

Online quizzes are often played in individual mode: each person takes part using their own smartphone and answers the questions whilst the meeting is in progress. Alternatively, groups can be formed, with their points totalled at the end. The advantage is that even teams working from home, international groups or teams spread across different locations can take part in the quiz together, have a laugh and share in the excitement.

Classification within the BITOU 4-level system

The Team Quiz Show is part of Level 1 – Classic Team Event – of the BITOU 4-Level System.

This level is all about bringing teams together, generating energy and creating a shared experience. The Team Quiz Show serves precisely this purpose: people strike up conversations, interact in a relaxed atmosphere and share a moment that is both fun and brings them closer together.

The format is deliberately accessible. It requires no deep reflection, no prior knowledge and no training framework. At the same time, the conversations between the questions can help forge small new connections: colleagues learn something about one another, knowledge becomes apparent and the group experiences itself as a team.

Those who wish to achieve greater impact and transfer of learning later on can continue with Level 2. There, the shared experience is specifically supplemented with reflection, collaboration and insights for everyday working life.
