Chain reaction XXL – The big wow moment at your company party

A spectacular item on the agenda for any company party: several teams develop individual modules that ultimately combine to form a huge chain reaction. Triggering it together will cause amazement, cheering and genuine goosebumps – an experience that will emotionally charge your company party and remain in your memory for a long time to come.

“The Haka event fully met our expectations! The energy and charisma of the moderators were absolutely captivating – a real highlight for our team.

The creative dynamic that developed within the group was particularly great. Our only wish: even more time, because everyone enjoyed it so much!”

How is a company party organised and what is important to consider?

First, here is the most important information about your company party – the legal background. A company party is not only a good opportunity to strengthen the team, it can also be legally considered a company-sponsored event. This means that special accident insurance provisions apply. In order for the party to be covered by accident insurance, certain requirements must be met in accordance with the DGUV. If these points are not met, the accident insurance may not consider any accidents that occur to be work-related accidents.

  • Invitation by the employer: The outing must be officially planned or approved by the company.
  • Open to all employees: All employees (and temporary workers, if applicable) of the company must be invited.
  • Promotion of team spirit: The trip must serve the purpose of strengthening team cohesion – it must not be purely privately motivated and must include team-building activities, for example.
  • Accompaniment by superiors: A manager or boss/superior must be present.

What is covered by insurance at a company party?
As a rule, all activities that are part of the official part of the trip are covered – this also applies to travel, meals and team activities.

However, private extensions or independent continuation of the trip after the official end are not insured. Subsequent excursions, for example to a bar or to another activity that is not part of the official programme, are also not included.

What should be considered when planning a company party?

What occasions are there for a company party? In general, a company party does not have to have a specific theme, but there are typical occasions that are often declared as such.

  • Year-end closing
  • Summer party
  • Company anniversary
  • Employee anniversaries
  • Project completion
  • Change processes
  • Onboarding
  • Change of ownership
  • Location openings
  • Family celebrations
  • Trainee events

Important framework data when planning a company event

Once the occasion for the company party has been decided, it is important to consider other points when planning your company event to ensure that everything runs smoothly and successfully.

    • Clarify the goal
      • What exactly do you want to achieve with the event? When will the event be considered a success?
    • Set a budget
      • How much money can be spent on the celebration? Is there scope for value-adding extras?
    • Define the group of participants
      • Which employees are allowed to participate? Will partners also be invited?
    • Agree on a date and time
      • Agree and decide early on. This point is also important when coordinating with external service providers.
    • Choose a location
      • Where should the company party take place? Do you need an external location? Get advice now!
    • Plan the programme
      • What does the daily agenda look like? When are meals and activities scheduled? Are there any buffer times? What team activities should be included to make it a company party?
    • Send out invitations
      • In writing or digitally, including all information about the location, time, dress code and RSVP.
    • Plan a bad weather alternative
      • We are happy to assist you with this! Many of our team event activities also offer a bad weather alternative.

Why should you hold a company party?

A company party is a good opportunity to show your appreciation for your employees and send a powerful message of solidarity. It says, “We see your work and we thank you.” A company party can make an important contribution to this, increasing motivation within the team and leading to more efficient work in the long term. It also improves loyalty to the company and reduces staff turnover. In general, it is important to continually strengthen team spirit within the company and to create genuine connections between employees outside of their everyday working lives. This is the only way to build trust, openness and enjoyment in working together as a team and within the company. Trust is the basis for good teamwork and the only way for a company to be successful in the long term.

A company party can also be used to address underlying problems in teamwork, such as improving communication within the team. In a relaxed atmosphere, people who hardly ever talk to each other in everyday life will sometimes strike up a conversation. This can also be specifically reinforced with team building.
Employer branding through a team event
At the end of the team-building exercise and a successful company party, it is time to celebrate the joint success. In Germany in particular, this is done far too rarely, and milestones are simply overlooked after completion without acknowledging the actual achievement. Over time, this has a negative impact on motivation and recognition within the team. Achievements should and must be celebrated together! This can improve team spirit in the long term.

A company party can also be used for employer branding. Memorable moments often end up on social media. With atmospheric pictures or short videos, you can reach potential applicants in an authentic and appealing way – and thus present yourself as an attractive employer. Those who regularly create genuine shared experiences visibly embody these values – and not just on paper.
Company parties are therefore not just a “nice-to-have”, but a strategic tool for retaining employees and attracting new talent. And, as an added bonus, they are also a lot of fun.

Practical example: Company party with the Team Olympics at S-Payment

For the 2024 company party of S-Payment, a very special experience was sought – one that would strengthen the sense of unity, ensure fun and, above all, focus on interaction between colleagues. No presentations, no strategy updates – just lots of energy and team spirit.

📍 The location: Filderhalle Stuttgart (Leinfelden-Echterdingen)

The choice of the Filderhalle was quickly made – a venue that had already proven itself at a previous event with BITOU. The location offers a wide range of uses thanks to its several auditoriums, conference rooms and spacious foyers. Particularly practical: even when events are held in parallel, the groups do not disturb each other – perfect conditions for a smooth large-scale event.

The adjacent outdoor area, mostly paved and tarmaced, is ideal for active team formats such as the Team Olympics. Special thanks go to our dedicated contact person, Mr Refus, who is always solution-oriented and flexible.

👥 The customer: Experiencing community – without any business talk

The S-Payment organisation team for the company party has been pursuing a clear goal with its team events for years: they want to give their employees an experience outside the work context – without an agenda or technical presentations. A short opening speech by the management symbolically invites everyone to “have fun” – and then the focus is on being together.

This year, it was that time again – 350 participants met in Stuttgart for the big Team Olympics.

Individual design options

🧠 From a trainer’s perspective: activate, motivate, connect

Choosing the Team Olympics format was spot on. Although there was initially a challenge in dividing the event into three game sequences, the structure worked extremely well. All teams were fully committed – no one held back, everyone wanted to leave the field as winners. The integrated tablet challenge with short quizzes during the breaks was also particularly well received – a nice mix of brainwork and exercise.

After lunch, as expected, there was a slight dip in energy levels. To get the group going again, we spontaneously decided on a 15-minute mini HAKA. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive – the energy immediately returned to the room.

🔮 Outlook: What’s next?

S-Payment values variety and innovation – for next year, we want to work together to find a new format that will once again generate enthusiasm. One hot candidate is our “Wind Farm” format, in which large groups work together to build creative wind turbines – ideal for teams with a wide range of talents. Initial discussions on this have already begun.
