corporate eventsare a tricky thing, because the most important thing is to get everyone involved and still generate added value for the team. That means finding just the right balance between “just having fun” and challenge.
In the early years of my company, our own corporate event were too challenging for my employees. After all, we were offering corporate event ourselves, so they always had to be a little more spectacular and extraordinary. The result was overwhelmed employees who found all kinds of excuses not to participate the following year.
So my recommendation is this: organise a company outing that focuses on the needs and passions of your colleagues, not your own or those of your boss. Organise an event that you’ve never done before and that brings you into contact with each other. There must be enough space to exchange ideas and get to know colleagues with whom you otherwise have no contact.
It should feel like a reward, be enjoyable and make you look forward to working with your colleagues every day. My current favourite is the wind farm, which involves everyone and has a great result that is visible to all.
