When chaos gives rise to genuine collaboration

Orders are piling up.
Time is running out.
And the team is in the middle of production.

The Cake Factory isn’t a traditional team-building event – it’s a simulation of teamwork under real-life conditions.
Participants work with symbolic materials rather than real food – the focus is clearly on processes, roles and teamwork.

Because in the end, only one thing matters:
Will we achieve our goal together – or will we let ourselves down?

Event Schedual – From the initial brief to a true team effort

Getting started & finding your role – The Factory launches

The participants enter their own production environment and are assigned roles. It soon becomes clear that this isn’t about baking, but about the teamwork behind it – organisation, coordination and clear responsibilities.

The production target is set out: a specific turnover benchmark must be achieved.
The first challenge arises immediately: how do we organise ourselves as a team to work efficiently?

Production cycles – working, reflecting, deciding

During short, intensive production phases, the team works under time pressure. Processes are tested, tasks are allocated and initial routines begin to take shape.

Between rounds, the team reflects together and decisions must be made:
Should we invest our budget to go faster? Or should we save it for later?

This is where we see how teams think economically, set priorities and make decisions together.

Optimisation & Strategy – From Reacting to Shaping

With every cycle, our understanding of our own processes grows.
The team begins to make targeted improvements: roles are adjusted, processes are scrutinised and investments are deployed more strategically.

It is no longer just about taking part, but about consciously steering our own performance.
The question shifts: How can we get the most out of it together?

Finale & Conclusion – Outcome, Insight and a Shared Moment

In the final round, the team puts everything they have learnt into practice.
The result is clear: have they met the benchmark, or even exceeded it?

Their achievements are recognised and celebrated together.
The conclusion provides an opportunity for discussion and for realising what the team is truly capable of.

Cake Factory as part of the BITOU event tour

The Cake Factory is located on Level 2 and represents a crucial step in the BITOU event journey:
It combines a playful experience with initial real-world insights into teamwork, processes and decision-making.

At the same time, it is the ideal bridge-building event:
Teams not only get to see how they work – they also have the opportunity to reflect on and question this behaviour directly.

This marks the transition from mere experience to genuine development.

Anyone wishing to continue along this path should take the next step in the event journey:

Level 3 – Team development:
→ e.g. with Adventure Everest or Before Mars
→ Focus: working on specific issues and achieving lasting change within the team

That’s how an event becomes a real development.

The benefits of the Cake Factory at a glance:

✔  Collaboration is brought to light: Teams realise how they actually work together – not how they think they do.

✔   Roles and responsibilities are becoming clear: Who is responsible for what, and why?

✔   Direct learning through iterative improvement: Reflection and implementation go hand in hand.

✔   Experience efficiency and process-oriented thinking: Teams understand how processes can be optimised.

✔   Training in how to manage pressure and time: This dynamic shows how teams function under pressure.

✔   Set clear priorities: Teams learn to distinguish between what is important and what is not – even under time pressure.

✔   Strategic thinking is encouraged: Investment decisions and priorities influence success.

✔   Applicability to everyday working life: The parallels with the real world of work are immediately apparent.

What our customers say

Customer reviews

We used the Cake Factory for our trainee onboarding and were surprised at how quickly real dynamics emerged. It immediately became clear who took the lead, who thought in a structured way, and what strengths each individual brought to the table. For us, this wasn’t just a powerful team-building experience, but also an incredibly valuable foundation for the further development of our trainees. Many thanks to Felix and the whole BITOU team!

Cake Factory is BITOU Level 2

The Cake Factory is classified as Level 2 in the BITOU 4-level system.
It combines a playful experience with focused reflection and highlights collaboration, processes and decision-making within the team.

This isn’t just about the experience, but about real insights:
Teams get to see how they perform under pressure, where inefficiencies arise, and how they can improve together.

BITOU Level 2 is particularly suitable for:

  • when teams want to make their collaboration visible
  • for conferences that offer genuine added value in terms of content
  • when team building is intended not only to bring people together, but also to help them develop
