Out with Santa Claus
Father Christmas is very busy. He’s loaded up his sleigh with lots of presents. However, some of them have been stolen from his sleigh by strangers whilst he was on his way. How can he find them again? With our help, of course! Everyone needs to work together as a team to help Father Christmas get all the presents back.

The idea: a flexible escape game
In the outdoor version, the focus is on getting some exercise in the fresh air – either everyone sets off on their own, or colleagues meet up in person in small groups to follow Santa Claus’s trail and collect clues. The teams then gather at the designated location to solve the escape game’s puzzles.
The indoor version is designed so that it can take place, for example, as an accompaniment to dinner or as part of a programme of entertainment at any venue.
In the online version, participants go outside one by one to collect clues, before coming together in a virtual meeting to solve the escape game.
However, a single clue is never enough to solve the mystery! It is only by piecing together several clues that the picture becomes clear. This is how the Christmas party becomes a genuine team-building exercise: every single person is needed to achieve a happy ending.
The procedure
The Christmas party begins with a brief introduction by the BITOU presenter.
The participants then go outside or stay indoors – either individually or in groups, depending on whether it is a purely digital or a hybrid event. They then collect clues as they move around: a clue is played on the app every 200 metres. Each person can collect a maximum of 18 clues, meaning they walk up to four kilometres.
Once the clues have been collected, the team reconvenes – either virtually or in person – and works together to solve the tasks. The individual teams (4 to 7 participants) compete against one another.
Notice categories
To find one of Santa Claus’s presents, you need four clues. The clues are divided into different categories: there are A, B, C and D clues. Each colleague is shown only one category of clues on their mobile phone. This means that to solve a task, you need at least four observant colleagues.
Deciding together
Each team decides for itself how to allocate the playing time. If there is an hour available, there are several options:
- Run at a fast pace for 30 minutes, then spend 30 minutes doing puzzles and solving problems
- Run for 20 minutes to collect as many clues as possible, then spend 40 minutes puzzling over and solving tasks
- A leisurely 30-minute walk, perhaps collecting just 10 clues at a time, followed by 30 minutes of puzzling and solving tasks – and with a bit of luck and skill, the teams will have collected all the presents again.
Be able to adapt flexibly at short notice?
What if face-to-face meetings aren’t possible after all? BITOU offers you the option to convert your in-person Christmas event into an online Christmas party at short notice and with flexibility (at no extra cost). Book now, decide later.
