And right in the middle of it all, teams working together to solve challenges, collect points and experience Christmas in an active way.
The result is an event that combines a festive atmosphere, competition and shared experiences. Ideal for companies looking to organise a Christmas party that’s active, relaxed and yet still special.
Event programme – Christmas spirit, strategy and shared moments of success
Welcome & Christmas Briefing – Kicking off the Challenge
To start with, the BITOU facilitator welcomes all participants and gets the group in the mood for the Christmas challenge. The teams are shown how the game works, how to use the tablet to find coordinates, complete tasks and collect points.
This is where the first sense of momentum builds: the participants form small teams, devise a strategy and get ready to explore the surroundings. It soon becomes clear that it is not automatically the team that walks the furthest that wins. What matters is which team chooses its tasks wisely, keeps an eye on the time and plans the best route as a team.
The Christmas trail begins – find the coordinates and complete the tasks
Once the race has started, the teams set off. On their tablets, they see various coordinates, each of which hides a task. There, they’ll find Christmas-themed quiz questions, puzzles, photo and video challenges, or small creative team tasks.
Much of the content centres on Christmas: customs, traditions, winter facts, international festive celebrations, gift-giving in other countries and Christmas curiosities. It is precisely this mix that ensures the challenge remains not only fun, but also full of surprises and variety.
Out and about as a team – the scent of mulled wine, ambition and joint decisions
During the challenge, the small team develops its own unique rhythm. The participants discuss answers, plan the next waypoint, take creative photos or videos, and decide together which tasks are really worth doing.
Depending on the location, the route may also take in a Christmas market. On request, specific stalls or stops can be incorporated – for example, with small vouchers for mulled wine, a snack or a special stop along the route.
In this way, the Christmas setting becomes not just a backdrop, but an active part of the event.
Return & Prize-giving Ceremony – The festive finale
At the end of the game, all teams gather at the agreed destination – for example, at the conference venue, in a restaurant or at another designated meeting point. There, the scores are tallied and the winning team is announced.
The event is brought to life by the photos and videos taken during the day. The group gets to see together just how creatively the teams tackled the tasks, which moments were particularly funny, and where the greatest ambition shone through. It is precisely this shared review that ensures the Christmas Smart Team Challenge doesn’t simply come to an end – but is remembered as a shared way to round off the year.
Classification within the BITOU 4-level system
The Christmas Smart Team Challenge falls under Level 1 – Classic Team Event of the BITOU 4-level system. This level is all about bringing teams together, generating positive energy and creating a shared experience.
The format is particularly suitable when a team wants to laugh together, get active and enjoy a special time together as the year draws to a close. It is not about intensive reflection or training, but about connection, physical activity and a shared sense of achievement.
Nevertheless, initial team dynamics may become apparent: Who takes the lead? Who thinks strategically? Who motivates the team? Who keeps an eye on the time? If these observations are to be explored in greater depth later on, they can be built upon using Level 2 or Level 3 formats.
The benefits of the Christmas Smart Team Challenge at a glance:
✔ An active Christmas party rather than just sitting around together: This format injects some energy into the end-of-year celebrations and ensures that teams share an experience together before the cosy part of the evening begins.
✔ Christmas spirit with a real sense of adventure Lights, a winter atmosphere, Christmas-themed questions and creative tasks bring the season to life – without the event feeling cheesy or contrived.
✔ Strengthens bonds within small teams: Interaction develops quickly in small groups. Participants plan together, discuss answers and share small moments of success with one another.
✔ Ideal after long conference or working days: Especially after spending a lot of time sitting down, the challenge provides a fresh burst of energy, some exercise and an active transition into the evening.
✔ Promotes strategy and teamwork: It’s not the number of checkpoints visited that determines victory, but the best strategy. Teams must prioritise, estimate time and make decisions together.
✔ Great fun thanks to photos and videos: The creative missions provide laughs, memories and a lively finale when the results are shared.
✔ Customisable to suit the location and occasion: The starting point, finish line, route, tasks and potential Christmas market stops can all be planned to suit the event.
✔ Well suited to international groups: As Christmas traditions from other countries can also be incorporated, this creates an inclusive and exciting experience for international teams.
What our customers say

Christmas Smart Team Challenge as part of the BITOU event programme
The Christmas Smart Team Challenge is a classic Level 1 format. It energises participants, encourages physical activity and brings people together through a shared experience. The focus is deliberately on fun, competition, the Christmas spirit and a relaxed atmosphere.
From here, the team programme can take various directions:
- Level 1 – Classic team event:
The Christmas Smart Team Challenge creates a sense of energy and shared memories to round off the year. Those who wish to stay within the Christmas-themed Level 1 category can follow this up with a Christmas Olympics. - Level 2 – Intelligent Team Building:
If teams want to grow closer together after the experience and make their collaboration more visible, the Christmas Chain Reaction is ideal – complete with festive decorations and the Christmas tree. - Level 3 – Team Development:
If specific development issues arise from the shared experience, formats such as Turn Around, Adventure Everest or On Thin Ice can follow on from this. - Level 4 – Team coaching:
For teams facing specific challenges or change-related issues, bespoke team coaching may be the next logical step.
In this way, a festive team activity can, if required, serve as the starting point for a more in-depth team journey.
