The board game becomes a team arena
Team Monopoly transforms the familiar board game concept into a lively, life-size team event. Participants do not move across a small game board, but become part of the playing field themselves. They compete against each other in teams, tackle various challenges, buy streets, collect play money and, in doing so, keep an eye not only on their own opponents but also on the entire course of the game.
Event schedule – roll the dice, buy, play and cheer together
Getting Started & The Game World – The Playing Field Comes to Life
To begin with, participants enter a game world that immediately piques their curiosity. Coloured roads and playing fields are laid out on the floor, reminiscent of a well-known board game – only much larger and situated in the middle of the room or in the outdoor area. There is no traditional starting point where everyone begins at the same time. Instead, the teams spread out across the playing field and compete against one another in fixed duels right from the start.
The BITOU facilitator explains the objective, the game mechanics and the key rules. It quickly becomes clear that it’s not just about reaching squares. It’s about winning challenges, buying roads, increasing your wealth and staying alert when other teams land on your roads. Even before the first roll of the dice, this creates a mix of anticipation, tactics and playful competition.
First laps & street purchases – The game is picking up pace
Then the first dice is rolled. The large, fluffy dice is thrown visibly across the room – so big that everyone can see it, and the roll itself becomes a little highlight of the event. It’s not just the host who rolls the dice: time and again, people from the group are invited to take part, so they can take their team’s luck into their own hands.
The teams move on and encounter their first tasks. Whoever wins a challenge receives play money and the chance to buy the road. This is where the real Team Monopoly feeling begins: should we invest or save? Buy straight away or wait and see? Is this road even worth it? And how closely do we keep an eye on whether other teams land on our property later on? This makes the game not only active but also tactical.
Challenges & Activity Stations – Every strength counts
As the event progresses, the teams face a wide variety of tasks. Some stations require skill, others knowledge, creativity or physical effort. These might include brain teasers, paper aeroplanes, beer mugs, short theatrical sketches, musical challenges or other creative performances. This gives every team the chance to score points in different ways.
Team Monopoly really comes to life when teams rise to the challenge. Some tasks reward not only the correct solution, but also courage and presence: those who dare to step in front of the group, put on a performance or act out a short scene stand to gain the most. This is precisely where the moments arise that people will still be talking about later – because colleagues suddenly reveal a side of themselves that is rarely seen in everyday office life.
Final & Prize-giving Ceremony – Who will have the biggest budget in the end?
Once the game is over, it’s time to tally the scores: Which teams have invested wisely? Who has won the most challenges? Who has consistently collected their rent? And who may have saved for too long or been too bold with their purchases? In the end, it all comes down to the balance in the team’s coffers. The best teams are announced, and the winning team gets its well-deserved moment in the spotlight.
BITOU hosts the closing ceremony with an awards presentation. In competitive formats, the winner’s prize is an important part of the recognition – for Team Monopoly, BITOU provides a 1.5-litre bottle of sparkling wine as standard, which can be used as a prize, a trophy or to mark the end of the game together.
Classification within the BITOU 4-level system
Team-Mopoly is classified as Level 1 – Classic Team Event within the BITOU 4-level system.
At this level, the focus is on fun, energy, connection and shared experiences. The aim is for the team to step away from their everyday routine, laugh together, get active and develop a positive sense of togetherness. This is exactly what Team-Mopoly achieves: it creates a large, playful arena where people act together, compete and experience themselves in a new context.
The format is deliberately accessible and not designed as a deep reflection or training exercise. Nevertheless, it can have a significant impact: teams experience fair play, competition, courage and cooperation in a playful way. Those who wish to explore these observations in greater depth later on can move on to Level 2. There, the experience is linked more specifically to reflection and application.
The added value of Team Monopoly at a glance:
✔ Fun and games with a real sense of adventure: Team-Mopoly is an event that is immediately recognisable as being different from a traditional activity. The large playing area, the dice and the streets create an immersive world into which participants are instantly drawn.
✔ Varied roles to suit different strengths: It is not just knowledge that counts. Skills, creativity, courage, acting ability, musicality and quick thinking can also be decisive factors. This means that people from very different backgrounds can make a contribution.
✔ Rediscovering colleagues: It is precisely the creative and performance-based activities that encourage participants to come out of their shells and reveal different sides of themselves. This provides topics for conversation and creates new shared memories.
✔ Strategy and Awareness: Teams must not only win individual challenges, but also manage their budget. Buying, saving, charging rent – all of this makes the game more tactical than a simple station-based game.
✔ Fair play and team spirit become evident: Even though Team Monopoly is a Level 1 format, certain behavioural patterns emerge during the game: How fairly is the game played? How do teams deal with money, rules, debt and competition?
✔ Completely analogue and technology-free: Team-Mopoly is particularly suitable for groups looking to consciously take a break from screens, apps and digital tools. The game uses real materials and involves direct interaction.
✔ Can be used indoors and outdoors: The playing area can be set up indoors or outdoors. This makes the format a flexible option for conference hotels, corporate venues, event locations or outdoor spaces.
✔ Plenty to talk about after the event: Team Monopoly creates moments that people will still be talking about later: a standout performance, a daring roll of the dice, a forgotten rent claim or a surprise victory. That’s exactly what makes the event so memorable.
What our customers say

Team Monopoly as part of the BITOU event tour
Team-Mopoly is a Level 1 format. It creates a shared experience, energises the group and fosters fun, competition and connection. At the same time, the game can reveal some initial insights: How do teams deal with competition? Who takes responsibility? How fairly is the game played? Who dares to take to the stage?
From here, the team’s journey can continue in various ways:
- Level 1 – Classic team event:
If you’d like to stick with games, fun and adventure, you could follow on with Highland Games or a Team Olympics. - Level 2 – Intelligent Team Building:
If, after Team Monopoly, the team is looking for a little more depth, dynamism and reflection, the Cake Factory is a suitable next step. - Level 3 – Team Development:
If specific topics emerge from the shared experience – such as communication, roles, fair play, responsibility or working together under pressure – formats such as Adventure Everest, Before Mars or Rome can follow on from this. - Level 4 – Team Coaching:
When the focus shifts from mere experience to specific challenges within the team, individual team coaching provides the ideal framework for clarification, change and sustainable development.
In this way, Team Monopoly can serve as a powerful starting point for a deeper team journey – from an analogue gaming experience to the targeted development of collaboration.
