The Christmas gaming event
The charming red-nosed Rudi dreams of flying above the clouds with Father Christmas. It sounds peaceful. But anyone who thinks everything runs smoothly in the reindeer herd is mistaken! Because what Rudi wants, the others want too. And so begins a competition that keeps everyone on their toes. Who will win the race at the North Pole and win Father Christmas’s favour?
The idea behind the team event
A touch of competition brings the team to life! This also applies to the online Christmas party. As a 30- to 60-minute online game, the Reindeer Race is ideal for an entertaining start or to liven things up during the event.
Colleagues compete against one another. Their task is to win presents in the virtual Christmas world by training their own champions and sabotaging the other reindeer – with a bit of luck, the right reindeer will be in the lead in the race that follows.
The whole thing takes place in a 3D world, lovingly decorated with details such as drifting snowflakes and fairy lights around the race track. It makes for a change from the usual Christmas party!
The rules
A two-minute video at the start explains the rules of the reindeer race. They’re simple. Participants take part in several races and prepare for each one by: choosing a suitable food pack with which they can train and/or sabotage the reindeer. Those who use good tactics – and keep an eye on what the others are doing – will come out on top and receive lots of virtual presents from Santa Claus.
The procedure
The online reindeer race consists of six laps. Each lap begins with a brief overview of the respective race track. The participants then decide on their strategy: shall we support one of our three champions and boost their chances of winning? Or would we rather sabotage one of the other reindeer and hinder our colleagues’ chances of victory? What do you think the other participants will do? Decisions must be made within a time limit before the race begins and it becomes clear who has backed the right reindeer. After that, the next race lap begins, offering a fresh chance of victory. Whoever wins the most races across all rounds takes home the overall victory.
The technology
Reindeer Race Online is a browser-based web game. You do not need to install an app or any additional software; a up-to-date browser (preferably Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge) is all you need. You can take part via your smartphone’s browser, or via a PC or laptop. Communication can take place using your usual conferencing software.
