The atmosphere is palpable the moment you step into the room: the right music, roll-up banners and the setting of a summer evening immediately draw the participants into the action. The murder victim is already lying in the centre of the room, and by now, at the very latest, it becomes clear that something is amiss.
The roles are assigned and the participants get into character.
If you like, you can even dress up in a suitable costume – and that’s often where the fun begins, even before the actual investigation gets underway.
Finding one’s role & preparation – Played suspiciously well
Each role is given its own script, including a backstory, a log of thoughts, and possible links to the victim. Now the preparation begins: Who am I? What do I know? And why might I appear suspicious?
The teams are learning their roles, forming initial theories and coming up with their own alibis.

The investigation phase – asking questions, discussing, piecing things together
Now the various characters come together and the actual investigation begins.
